Baby Name Meanings
Almost all baby names have some kind of meaning, be it historical, regional or religious. How important is the baby name meaning when choosing a name? If the baby name you choose for your new born son means "Brave as a Lion" will he really grow up to be…. Brave as a Lion? Will it matter if he does not?
If you desire a religious name for your child, should you research the history of the first holder of this religious name to see if their traits are what you want in your child.
Some friends of mine had trouble choosing a name. They had a mixed marriage in every way. Hailing from different countries, different races, different socio-economic backgrounds, different first languages and different religions. Whew, how did THESE guys end up together? They tried long and hard to find a name for their first born, with a baby name meaning that meant something positive across all these backgrounds, but in the end were stumped.
Then, in the seventh month of their pregnancy, a bed of lilies outside their bedroom window bloomed. The perfume was so strong and beautiful, that "Lilly" was chosen should their baby be a girl(which she was).
Sometimes keeping it simple is the best way. When choosing a baby name, do consider the baby name meaning but try to consider more than the meaning, it’s not the only important part of your baby's name. |
